75 Years of EFE Images: Wars, Triumphs, Disasters, People and Politics
February 17 – August 28, 2016

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Museum of Art + Design (MOA+D) in collaboration with the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives is pleased to present the exhibition 75 Years of EFE Images: Wars, Triumphs, Disasters, People and Politics. The exhibition, drawn from the recent donation of over 75 photographs from Agencia EFE, the world’s leading Spanish-language news agency, will open to the public on February 17, 2016 at MOA+D located within the College’s Historic Freedom Tower.

75 Years of EFE Images: Wars, Triumphs, Disasters, People and Politics, is an exhibition and collection of photographs donated to MDC’s Permanent Art Collection and the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives. The exhibition includes photographs of Ibero-American and world history and features images of historic importance, such as the meeting between Francisco Franco and Adolf Hitler at the start of World War II, Princess Diana, Martin Luther King, as well as photos of Celia Cruz, Cantinflas and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The collection will continue to grow, as the agency donates a historically significant photograph that encapsulates the most important headline of each year.

In 2015, Agencia EFE, the Spanish international news agency, celebrated 75 years of service. The world’s fourth largest wire service, EFE has documented and reported the most important global events through words and images. In celebration of its 75th anniversary, EFE compiled a collection of its most arresting and impactful images for each year in operation. Featuring photographs from EFE’s award-winning photojournalists, the exhibition captures pivotal moments in history including coronations of kings and queens, presidential visits, star-studded moments, physical triumphs and political turmoil. EFE was born in 1939 in a Spain devastated by the Civil War and began its expansion in the Americas in 1966 with the opening of its first bureaus in the region. Today, EFE operates in 180 cities in 120 countries, employing more than 3,000 news professionals from 60 nationalities.

“The Museum of Art + Design is thrilled to present this important exhibition that not only encompasses achievements by photojournalists but also the depiction of pivotal moments in Ibero-American history.” said Jeremy Mikolajczak, MOA+D’s executive director and chief curator. “We are honored by the generous on-going donation from EFE, as it expands our diverse collection and provides continued collaboration opportunities between the Museum and the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives.”

Richard Haas’ Florida
April 21 – August 14, 2016

In 2015, famed muralist Richard Haas donated over 50 works on paper, preparatory sketches, and models to the Museums Permanent Art Collection. The suite of exquisitely rendered drawings and plans reveal Haas’ deep appreciation of architecture and served as studies for the majestic murals he created throughout South Florida. The large Art Deco “Arc de Triomphe” was painted onto the original Fountainebleau Hilton Hotel in Miami Beach, designed by Morris Lapidus, and was “lit” by two sixty-five feet high grand lamps in the form of caryatids. The now destroyed mural was just one example of the artists’ iconic work adorning the building facades within Miami Dade County.

Richard Haas murals have been painted on blank walls of buildings in cities throughout the United States including New York, Boston, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Miami. The paintings are extravagant and inventive architectural fantasies, which alter the cityscape around them.

“Richard Haas is an artist about architecture – he makes people stop and think about architecture and realize that buildings are not just a backdrop; they are also an active presence in our lives.” -Paul Goldberger, Architecture Critic, Vanity Fair

In this exhibition, Richard Haas’ Florida, many works will be on loan from Haas’ private collection which include final preparatory studies for projects created throughout Florida including State Offices, Tallahassee, Florida; The University of Tampa series; SeaWorld, Orlando project; final drawings for mosaics for Home Savings Banks in Aventura, Bradenton, Vero Beach, Naples, the Sarasota County Courthouse and the Bakehouse, Miami. In addition, new paintings from Haas’ Museum interior series will also be on loan from Harmon Meek Gallery in Naples, Florida .

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents “Coppelia”.

Miami, Fl. Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, one of South Florida’s most acclaimed ballet companies, will present the third program of the season with the delightful and lovely ballet comedy:”Coppelia”. It will run March 5th -6th at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, and March 12th -13th at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts at the Amaturo Theater.

Coppelia is considered one of the most famous ballets of the classical repertoire. Vladimir Issaev’s version, based on the original work by Arthur Saint Leon is presented as a dynamic and entertaining ballet that will awe audience of all ages and allow everyone to enjoy it in a very unique way.

Issaev will keep the elements of the piece which are traditional ballet, character dance and pantomime, but adding the very peculiar humor and freshness of his works, which is already a trend in his choreographies. The original version was released on May 25, 1870 at the Paris Opera. It tells the story of Doctor Coppélius, a mysterious and absent minded inventor who created a mechanic life-size dancing doll: Coppelia. It is so lifelike that Franz (Daniel Sarabia or Hernan Montenegro), a village youth, is mesmerized by her beauty and is determined to attract her attention setting aside his true love, Swanhilda (Mary Carmen Catoya or Lillian Hill). She shows Frank his folly by dressing as the doll, pretending to make it come to life and ultimately saving him from an untimely end at the hands of the inventor.

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida will have the participation of more than 20 professional dancers. The most advanced students of Vladimir Issaev School of Classical Ballet have been invited to perform along the professional dancers of the company.

Coppelia will feature the debut of talented Cuban dancer Daniel Sarabia, who is joining Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida and sharing his extensive experience with the company. Having graduated from the National Ballet School of Cuba, Sarabia has been part of the Boston Ballet Company, The Béjart Ballet Lausanne (Switzerland), and was principal dancer of Miami City Ballet. He has also been in major productions dancing principal roles in Latin America, Asia and Europe.

Coppelia will be presented March 5 & 6 at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center and March 12 & 13 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

“We are very honored and so excited to be able to welcome these top two Jewish musical giants in concert at our synagogue,” said Steve Allen, executive director of Congregation B’nai Israel. “Josh Nelson and Neshama Carlebach are superstars in their own rights, and about a year ago combined their talents musically to form the most explosive, meaningful and rocking show for all audiences. Combining Josh’s rock talents and inspirational writings inspired by his late mentor, Debbie Friedman, and Neshama’s strong allegiance to her late father and icon, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, this is a concert that absolutely cannot be missed.”

Neshama has performed and taught in cities worldwide, has sung on the Broadway stage, has sold more than one million records, and was a six-time entrant in the 2011 Grammy Awards. Neshama was one of the creators of the Broadway play “Soul Doctor.” Her ninth recording, “Soul Daughter,” features performances by the original Broadway cast of the musical. Neshama is currently touring with a new band and gospel choir and joyfully raising her two sons, Rafael and Micah.

A classically trained musician who is equally versed in rock, jazz and world music, Josh Nelson combines his broad range of influences into a breathtaking musical style that is accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Whether appearing solo or with an elite ensemble of world-class musicians, Josh’s presence and performance style is high-energy and captivating. His music builds community, lifting up congregations and concert audiences alike through experiences that are at once energizing and deeply moving. Dominique Ansel / Art Basel

During the craziness that was Art Basel 2015, pastry chef extraordinaire Dominique Ansel hosted a “surprise” pop-up soft serve window at The Setai Miami Beach serving two frozen yogurt creations. The first was a Caramel Stout Soft Serve with Chocolate “Caviar” and Sea Salt Brownie and the second was his cult-favorite Burrata Soft Serve, Balsamic Caramel, Confit Strawberry and Microbasil, both served in hand-rolled honey tuile cones. Ansel sat with Chat Chow TV during the Basel madness to tell us more about the pop-up and some of his favorite sweet creations.

In them, we transform everyday materials, such as belting textiles, used fabric, beads, metal trinkets or paper, into works of art.” They are also inspired by everyday people and have made it part of their mission to collaborate with many different communities to create art.

Miami Valentine’s Day 2016 Events to Treat Your Sweetheart To

Miami Valentine’s Day Events to Treat Your Sweetheart To
Guest column by Doug McCallister

If you haven’t already started making plans, you’d better get to work! Don’t worry; there are some foolproof events going on in the Miami area that’ll make this Valentine’s Day special.

Love-In And All That Jazz
When: 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Where: Marjorie and William McDonald Center
17501 NE 19th Ave.
North Miami Beach, FL 33162
Price: $15 per person or $120 for table of 10 people

If you two love the romantic vibe of the Jazz Age, this is going to be your perfect Valentine’s night out. There will be a collective vow of love with a champagne toast, a full-course dinner, dancing to the swing of the 20s with a live band, raffles, live entertainment, and more.

Romance/Romance
When: 3:00 pm
Where: Abdo New River Room at the Broward Center
Price: $45 per ticket

Love live musical theatre? You two might get a kick out of catching a Valentine’s Day matinee performance.

“Feisty, frothy and fun, two one-act musicals reveal how danger and illusion can spark the fiery flames of attraction. From a delightful romp to elude sexual ennui in turn-of-the-century Vienna to a modern look at affection and disaffection of two Manhattan couples summering in the Hamptons, this Off-Broadway sensation that successfully moved to Broadway is a sweetheart of a musical perfect for the Abdo New River Room’s intimate stage.”

Valentine’s Evening at Turnberry Isle Miami
When: 6:30 pm – 12:00 am
Where: Turnberry Isle Miami
19999 W. Country Club Dr.
Aventura, FL 33180
Price: $250 per couple

You can reserve a moonlit couple’s cabana, enjoy champagne and roses by the pool with a private table and a 5-course pre fixe menu. Turnberry Isle Miami has three different Valentine’s special resort packages, but you can’t beat some quality time alone with your honey in a beautiful setting. And, if you need help saving up to cover the cost of your romantic evening, check out these money-saving tips.

A President’s Day Eve (Valentine’s Day) Improv Show
When: 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Where: Just the Funny Theatre
3119 Coral Way
Coral Gables, FL 33145
Price: $10 (online pre-sale) or $12 (at the door) per ticket

Maybe you two like to break away from the standard Valentine’s Day stuff and you’d rather laugh together. A Miami Improv Festival team, Society Circus Players are appearing in their first full-length show of 2016. Live, hilarious, and unscripted comedy is a fun way to make your Valentine’s Day date a memorable one.

Brunch & Bubbles
When: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Where: Cibo Wine Bar
45 Miracle Mile
Coral Gables, FL 33134
Price: $35 per person

This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday. Not ideal. So if you can’t spend the evening with your date, opt for an early celebration instead! An Italian brunch buffet that includes made-to-order eggs, fresh juices, traditional breakfast items, a waffle station, pizza station, fresh handmade pastas, seafood, antipasti, cheese, and artisan breads and pastries. And of course; half-off bottles of champagne.

Eyes WIIIIIIDE Shut – Valentine’s Day Funtasm
When: 7:00 pm
Where: 11040 SW 217th Terrace
Miami, Florida 33170
Price: $27.37–$64.29

Up for a very risque adventure? If you’re game to try just about anything, and if you’re tired of the same old Valentine’s Day routine, this is the event for you. A footnote in the event description says, “This one is for the Singles who are ready to mingle…and the Couples who enjoy them. Mask REQUIRED, but as always…Clothing OPTIONAL.”

Romantic Dinner and Cinema
When: 7:00 pm – 12:00 pm
Where: Bianca at Delano South Beach
1685 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach
Price: $100 per person

The classic “dinner-and-a-movie” date just got a major upgrade. Enjoy a three-course meal where menu highlights include lobster risotto, Insalata Rossa with red oak leaf, radicchio, grapefruit, pomegranate seeds, beets and goat cheese, then a chocolate mousse dome and a glass of champagne to top it all off. While you dine in the Delano orchard, they’ll be screening romantic classic cinema in the moonlight.

Don’t Call It A Come Back
Martha Stewart & South Florida Glass Club has Collected for Years

Treasure Hunters from across the U.S. Make their way to South Florida for 2016 Annual Vintage Glass, Pottery and Dinnerware Show & Sale

South Florida Depression Glass Club Annual Vintage, Pottery & Dinnerware Show & Sale-
February 6-7, 2016 in Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH, Florida – It’s Back and with new found interests! The South Florida Depression Glass Club (SFDGC), one of the nation’s foremost groups of experts on all things vintage and Depression glass, announced today that tickets are now on sale for the Annual Vintage Glass, Pottery and Dinnerware Show and Sale. The two-day event, which kicks off on February 6-7, 2016 attracts collectors, vendors, dealers, designers and consumers from across the U.S. in search of the wildly popular and rare machine-pressed, tinted glassware , some of which was mass-produced in America during the Great Depression from the 1920s through the 1940s. Thanks to the new sparked interested of wedding planners and brides from all over the country started by design expert Martha Stewart & food guru Paula Deen when they both began highlighting these American treasures throughout 2015 in their magazines and TV shows – this year’s event is expected to be bigger than ever!

As Depression glass has grown in popularity, certain colors and patterns have become scarce and hard to find. The Annual Vintage Glass, Pottery and Dinnerware Show & Sale is known as the ultimate treasure hunt for collectors throughout seeking sought after designs, exquisite pieces and rarities that range in value from a few dollars to up to several hundred dollars. The glass, rich with historic significance, is displayed in well-appointed homes across the U.S. and recently has become a major trend in wedding décor used to add color, whimsy and a vintage feel.

“Whether you’re browsing Martha Stewart Living, Paula Deen’s Magazine or national bridal magazines, Depression era glass is at the forefront of décor and design trends,” said John Fiore, president of the SFDGC. He continues, “This mainstream interest brings people from across the U.S. to South Florida each year for our event. Since 1974, our event has quietly grown to be a major destination for collectors and consumers on the hunt for these American treasures.
People come not only for a great time, but also to learn from the South Florida Depression Glass Club’s experts and gain a deeper understanding and broader knowledge of Depression glass collecting.”

This year’s show and sale will feature free seminars, door prizes, glass identification, appearances by invited local celebrities and elected officials, a display curated by the South Florida Depression Glass Club and much more. The family-friendly event offers activities for all ages, and an opportunity to celebrate this year’s theme, “Made in America.”The Annual Vintage Glass, Pottery and Dinnerware Show & Sale will be held at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center located at 1801 N.E. 6th Street in Pompano Beach. Doors will open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6 and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7. General admission is $7.00. Parking is free. About the South Florida Depression Glass Club

Founded in 1970, the South Florida Depression Glass Club is committed to promoting awareness and appreciation of American Depression era glassware and Depression glass collecting as a hobby or investment. The organization sponsors have produced their “standing room only” Show and Sale each year since 1974. It continues to be one of the nation’s highest anticipated and most popular Depression glass club events. More information is available at www.sfdgc.com.

About Depression Glass

Depression glass is clear or colored translucent glassware that was distributed free, or at low cost, in the United States and Canada around the time of the Great Depression. The Quaker Oats Company, and other food manufacturers and distributors, put a piece of glassware in boxes of food, as an incentive to purchase. Movie theaters and businesses would hand out a piece simply for coming in the door. Most of this glassware was made in the Ohio River Valley of the United States, where access to raw materials and power made manufacturing inexpensive in the first half of the twentieth century. More than twenty manufacturers made more than 100 patterns, and entire dinner sets were made in some patterns. Common colors are clear (crystal), pink, pale blue, green, and amber. Depression Glass has been highly collectible since the 1960s. Due to its popularity, Depression Glass is becoming more scarce on the open market. Rare pieces that were once handed out free may now sell for several hundred dollars. Some manufacturers continued to make popular patterns after World War II, or introduced similar patterns, which are also collectible. Popular and expensive patterns and pieces have been reproduced, and reproductions are still being made today.

South Florida JAZZ presents the Antonio Adolfo-Hendrik Meurkens Brazilian Jazz Quartet at the Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center, 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr Blvd, Davie FL, February 13 at 8 PM. Tickets $40 ($10 students with ID.)

An exquisitely trained classical pianist, Antonio Adolfo has been among the elite of Rio de Janeiro’s jazz scene for decades, where his talent was nurtured with the bossa nova movement in Rio’s Copa section, somewhat analogous to Greenwich Village of the 1960s, actually. Soon, he was touring with legendary Brazilian singers, including Elis Regina and Milton Nascimento. Today, Antonio is a master of Brazilian song. A renowned educator, he established a prominent music conservatory, Centro Musical Antonio Adolfo, several years ago in Rio, which is now run by his two daughters. Antonio, of course, is a first-class performer and perhaps even better known as composer. Herb Alpert, Sergio Mendes, Stevie Wonder, Earl Klugh and Dionne Warwick have all have performed or recorded his compositions. In the last decade, he has been enormously prolific in his recorded output, often featuring his vocalist-daughter Carol Saboya. Included in his discography is an acclaimed 2015 CD, Copa Village, made with Hendrik Meurkens, a frequent collaborator for over three decades. His work has not gone unnoticed, either. A 2014 solo recording O Piano de Antonio Adolfo garnered a Latin Grammy Award nomination, as did the 2015 ensemble CD, Tema.

Hendrik Meurkens is not your basic exponent of Brazilian jazz. He is a German-born vibraphone virtuoso who trained at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He then broadened his scope after hearing the legendary chromatic harmonica legend Toots Thielemans. Hendrik was inspired to teach himself to play and master this capricious instrument and become its most important exponent since Thielemans. Another life-changing musical experience was his introduction to samba and bossa nova. He was so moved by Brazilian music that after Berklee, he moved to Rio de Janeiro to totally immerse himself in the music and culture of Brazil. His recordings and performances have earned worldwide acclaim because of the transcendent beauty of his music, a fusion of traditional and Brazilian jazz. He has recorded more than two-dozen albums as a leader or co-leader. A cross-cultural amalgam guaranteed to touch the heart, the quartet features Hendrik’s harmonica and vibes along with Adolfo’s piano styling, with bass and drums, playing many of Antonio and Hendrik’s stirring original compositions and arrangements.

Also featuring Jamie Ousley, bass, and Carlomagno Araya, drums.

Funding for South Florida JAZZ is provided in part by a grant from the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Division.

#ThankYouMiami for Fashion – Feminine Floridays

Thank-You-Miami-For-Fashion-Feminine-Floridays-Sweater-Title

Miami has been suffering from multiple weather disorder the past few days. One minute it’s hurricane-ing, another it’s freezing, and the next it’s a beautiful, warm day. To cope we’ve had to do a daily weather check before heading out of the house and still had to pack in anticipation of all weather conditions. Our obsession with sweaters—we love to buy them, we love to wear them, we love to think about them—has turned out to be super clutch in these confusing times. Sweaters are the perfect foundation upon which to build a cold weather outfit, but they also work well with warmer weather clothes like shorts. The past few weeks we’ve been wearing them with everything from A-line skirts to silk patterned pants and, on colder days like today, over dresses and leggings.

Who would have thought the sweater a key staple to Miami life? Well, it is and you need to know how to use it strategically. In today’s post we inspire you to give the sweater a feminine, Florida twist for those days that build from warm and sunny to dark and chilly. What’s your favorite way to style a sweater?

The second annual edition of Taste of Miami–a dynamic charity event showcasing the unique and stylish flavors of South Florida through a delectable selection of culinary bites, premium spirits, and craft beverages from the city’s top restaurants–will take place Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Marlins Park. The evening will be hosted by renowned celebrity chef and Miami native Adrianne Calvo, as well as Miami Marlins All-Star pitcher Jose Fernandez. Proceeds from this event under the stars will benefit the Marlins Foundation, the Hispanic Food and Beverage Foundation, and the Miami Culinary Institute’s Joanna Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Taste of Miami targets the vast population of culinary enthusiasts in the South Florida area, but also aims to attract a diverse demographic of general consumers who enjoy food, drink, and participation in charitable endeavors. The proceedings were inspired by the memory of Miami Culinary Institute student Joanna Rodriguez, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 20 in December 2014.
Ms. Rodriguez was a beloved member of the school’s student body whose passion for the culinary arts and brightening the lives of those around her was exemplified by her ever-present smile and compassionate spirit. In memory of Joanna’s talent, dedication, and love of her craft, the Marlins Foundation, in conjunction with the Hispanic Food and Beverage Foundation and the Miami Culinary Institute, forged the concept of a night featuring some of the preeminent talents in the celebrated Miami food and wine landscape.

“It’s an honor to be able to serve as co-host of an event that ultimately celebrates both the culinary arts and the memory of an aspiring student who dreamt of a career in the field”, remarks Chef Adrianne. “The fact that the night will help launch the university careers of two students who also want to embark on this path provides me with even greater inspiration to be a part of it.”
Funds raised from the event will go towards the funding of two Miami Culinary Institute scholarships for deserving Hispanic high school and college students looking to embark on a career in the Food and Beverage industry.

In addition to providing attendees with a diverse and multi-course array of Miami’s unique flavors, taking place on Thursday, February 18, Chef Adrianne and Jose Fernandez will judge a live “Chef Showdown” that featuresTelemundo’s Chef James Tahhan returning to defend his MVP Master Chef title alongside a Miami Marlins All-Star alumni player serving as his sous chef. Exhibiting restaurants and microbreweries will also compete for the coveted Taste of Miami “Grand Slam” award. The Grand Slam award is a “Best In Show”-form of recognition that will be determined by votes from the event’s attendees on each contest participant’s performance in the categories of Table Presentation and Taste. The winning entry will receive a 2016 Taste of Miami Grand Slam Trophy and a $1000 donation will also be made to the participant’s 501c3-classified charity of choice.

The Basement Project is proud to present the South Florida premiere of Boom, an epic and intimate comedy by acclaimed San Francisco playwright Peter Sinn Nachtrieb directed by a theater veteran Oleg Kheyfets. Featuring original music composed and performed by members of the beloved electro-funk bank Afrobeta, the show runs Jan 7-31 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami.

“Uproariously funny. It’s literate, coarse, thoughtful, sweet, scabrously inappropriate, wracked by existential anxiety, and wonderfully humane…this is one end-of-the-world story that’s likely to leave you grinning from ear to ear.”

– Washington City Paper

A grad student’s personal ad lures a mysterious girl to his subterranean research lab under the pretense of an evening of “no strings attached” sex. But when a global catastrophe strikes, their date takes on evolutionary significance. An epic and intimate comedy that spans over billions of years.

“At first glans “Boom” suggests a “Twilight Zone” rewritten as a sitcom… It winds up speaking, quietly and piquantly, to our enduring fascination with and need for myths about the beginning of life as well as its end.”
– New York Times

“A Grandly wacked-out apocalypse fantasy, one of those charmed evenings.”
-Washington Post

érémy Gobé, who lives and works in Paris, imbues objects that he finds in his path with new purpose. In his room-sized installation, Freedom Leading Wool, Gobé uses fabric and mesh to create a dramatic enveloping space. The red wool, claimed from a shuttered factory in rural France, recalls a dying industry and its displaced craftsmen. This work references the 1830 masterpiece by Eugène Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People, recalling the movement, drama and patriotism of that iconic work. On view through FEB 28, 2016

In addition to this installation, a new work by Gobé, Nature’s Imagination Scares Me, will be on view in the storefront galleries at 23rd and Collins Avenue as part of tc: temporary contemporary, the Bass Museum of Art’s public art program.

His life was as bizarre as his paintings: Melting clocks, tigers leaping out of nowhere, flaming giraffes, mills powered by butterflies, women with protruding drawers, and plenty of overt and subtle sexual references to go around. Paintings charged with religiosity that ranged from the blasphemous to the pious. A personal life that resembled a circus. A financial success wrapped inside of a financial disaster. Famous for being famous. Sexual exploits to make a herd of prudes squirm. An ego that hardly fit within the universe. Many described him as a skilled painter; others, unh-uh, not so much. What is undeniable though is that he was among the most creative artists of the XX Century.

Miguel Rodez has challenged himself and a select group of artists to create artwork in their own style, but incorporating an image of Salvador Dalí’s face within the work, along with some element of Dalí’s ideas. It is an art project that is intended an homage to both Dalí and his artwork. Several artists have taken up the challenge. Their work, which includes drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, fine art photography, and other media, will be shown at FACING DaLí in January 2016. You are invited to share in this experience.

Red bows suggest a promise or a kiss… Bows are ribbons that have been tied into decorative knots, ancient symbols of strength, unions, loyalty, and beauty. Red Bows are at once reminders of all that is important…tie a red string around your finger so as not to forget… In eastern cultures red ribbons connect people who are destined to meet, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break.

COCA-COLA’S TEEN DANCE PROGRAM “SHARE THE MOVIMIENTO” RETURNS TO SOUTH FLORIDA

It’s time to shine up those dancing shoes because Coca-Cola’s Share the Movimiento (“Share the Movement”) dance program is back in South Florida. Share the Movimiento provides teens a chance to work together as a team and express themselves through dance while getting involved with the community. This year kicks-off the second annual event that invites teens to move and groove their way toward the $5,000 first prize that makes a difference in something they’re truly passionate about in their community.

Beginning January 12, participants ages 14 through 19 are encouraged to assemble a “dance crew” of two to six members and submit a video of their routine, featuring the signature dance move and program’s official theme song, “Take Me Away,” by Robby Cam. Visit www.sharethemovimiento.com to learn more, get complete competition guidelines and submit an entry by February 16.
