PANCOAST | ISOZAKI | JOHNSTON MARKLEE
THREE VISIONS OF A MUSEUM.
THE NEW ONE IS ABOUT TO BE REVEALED.

In 1930, Russell Pancoast designed the building that would become The Bass. In 2001, Arata Isozaki reimagined it. Now Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee are transforming it again.

How do you inherit a building already shaped by two important architectural visions—and make it new? What do you preserve? What do you change? What should Miami Beach’s leading museum become? Join The Bass for the first public presentation of Johnston Marklee’s design for the museum’s next chapter.

DAY 1 🌴
For the first time, Intriga is stepping into the new BOHO location, and we wanted to experience it a little differently.
During the day.
The Jungle is one of those spaces you have to see under the sun. The greenery, the details and the way the entire patio has been put together make it feel like it was made for an afternoon that slowly turns into night.
So on September 26th, we’re taking it over.
Starting at 4PM, we’ve put together a varied and carefully curated lineup of familiar faces and some of our favorite local DJs. Expect the music to move throughout the day between Afro House, Progressive House, Indie Dance and Tech House, building with the energy of the space from afternoon into sunset and eventually into the night.
After three years of building Intriga through our nights, DAY 1 feels like another glimpse of where we’re headed. New spaces, different experiences and more ways to bring our community together around the music.

His sophomore album, High Country Sound, further expanded his musical style while remaining rooted in the storytelling and authenticity at the heart of country music.

Whether he’s delivering a chart-topping anthem, a heartfelt ballad, or a crowd-raising country rocker, Canaan Smith brings passion, personality and unmistakable Nashville energy to the stage.

With great songs, an engaging stage presence and a genuine connection with his fans, Canaan Smith delivers the kind of country music experience that was made to be enjoyed live.

Writing Workshop

Inspired by Yuko Mohri’s exhibition, this workshop invites participants to explore what ordinary objects might reveal when we look beyond the visible. Mohri’s work draws attention to unseen relationships — between decay and transformation, matter and sound, time and perception. In this generative writing workshop, we’ll use surrealist poetry and imaginative prompts to enter that same territory on the page.

Together, we’ll read poems & prose that open strange and surprising connections between objects, then write from images, objects, sensations, and associations inspired by the exhibition. Participants will be encouraged to move past literal description and into surprise, mystery, and transformation — discovering how writing can make the invisible felt.

No prior writing experience is required. This workshop is for anyone curious about art, poetry, imagination, and the hidden life of the world around us.

The session connects Mohri’s focus on how everyday objects interact with the concept of syntropy—the idea of turning random, scattered pieces of life into a meaningful, orderly connection. Participants can expect a mindful, beginner-friendly practice that sharpens their visual awareness, showing how learning to see deeply allows us to bring the world around us into beautiful creative alignment and connection.

Join us for the opening reception of “Photographing Myself: Bunny Yeager [in Dialogue with Aldeide Delgado, Naomi Fisher, and Val Souza].”

Photographing Myself: Bunny Yeager [in Dialogue with Aldeide Delgado, Naomi Fisher, and Val Souza] presents a feminist intervention by curator Aldeide Delgado into How I Photograph Myself (1964), a landmark photobook by pioneering Miami-based photographer Bunny Yeager (1929–2014).

Yeager began her career as a pin-up model before establishing herself as a photographer in the 1950s. Moving across photography, modeling, writing, filmmaking, and fashion, she became one of the most influential figures in American photography of the 1950s and 1960s.

In How I Photograph Myself, Yeager turned the camera toward herself, staging her image through clothing, makeup, hairstyles, poses, props, and locations. Taking the book as its point of departure, the exhibition presents selected and intervened fragments from the publication, contextualizing Yeager’s photoperformative practice through her own voice and reconsidering her legacy through questions of agency, self-representation, the male gaze, and female spectatorship.

Yeager’s work enters into dialogue with contemporary artists Naomi Fisher and Val Souza, whose practices explore desire, feminism, performance, the body, and visual culture. The exhibition presents rarely seen work by Miami-based Fisher and marks the first presentation of Brazilian artist Val Souza’s work in the United States.

Join us for Opening Night, Saturday, September 19, from 6–9 PM, and experience an intergenerational conversation about women taking control of the camera and their own image.

Event schedule:

6:00 pm | Opening

7:00 pm | Curator’s tour

Enjoy music and light refreshments throughout the evening.

Sounds of Screams Amusement Park 9/24/26

Sounds of Screams Amusement Park
Thursday, 09/24/2026-11/01/2026, 07:00 pm-11:00 pm
Miami Dade County Fair & Expo Center
10901 SW 24th St.,
Miami, Florida, 33165
Website
Cost: General admission tickets start at $49.99. Fast pass tickets cost $99.99 (plus fee).

Sounds of Screams (SOS), a full-scale, multimillion-dollar Halloween amusement park is taking over the Miami-Dade Fair & Expo Center. The massive new attraction features 13 acres of fear including five haunted houses, immersive scare zones (like a creepy cemetery), carnival rides, live entertainment, food (from horror-themed treats and gourmet street food to desserts), drinks and an adults-only psychological horror experience to Miami. The five haunted houses are as follows:

• Mitos: Takes visitors on an immersive descent into the legends of Latin America, stories whispered for generations and the unknown that refuses to stay buried. These are not just tales… they are warnings. Step into a forgotten Mexican pueblo, where something is already waiting for you. As you move deeper, you’ll cross into Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Puerto Rico, and beyond.

• The Trials of 1692: Step back into 1692 and experience the terror of the Salem witch trials. Witness a trial unfold in the courtroom, find yourself imprisoned alongside accused witches, escape into Salem Village, and enter the infamous Witch’s House, where dark rituals and forbidden magic come alive.

• The Infected: A classified life engineering corporation fell silent the moment an outbreak began. Doors sealed, personnel trapped, infection spreading in the Lab. Now, a crashed delivery truck has ripped open the only way inside. Step through the wreckage and descend into the lab’s twisted remains, where something is still alive… and it’s waiting. There is 100% chance that all guests will experience close range encounters.

• Dead End: An abandoned car lot full of surprising characters enclosed within a perimeter wall of old shipping containers. Guests will walk through a mysterious collection of junk cars and will have to figure out how to find their way back to the amusement park.

• SOS House (for adults only): Enter the home of Jack Hunter, a serial killer hiding behind the lens of a photographer. What begins as an obsession with capturing the perfect portrait quickly reveals something far more disturbing. Make your way through his home, darkroom, and bloody workspace as you discover what happened to his previous subjects and the horrifying collection he’s created from his victims. Graphic, disturbing, and strictly 18+. There is 100% chance guests will experience a high level of psychological tension at this house.

In the book, Soriano explores revolutionary transformations in the Atlantic World from the perspective of a trans-imperial colony. She focuses on the island of Trinidad in the late 18th century during the transition from Spanish to British rule, analyzing the ways by which imperial forces and colonial governments implemented innovative empire-building strategies to deal with revolutionary change.

“Between Two Crowns” seeks to reconstruct the history of the multiple “experiments” undertaken by the Spanish and British empires in a multiracial, multilingual, and multicultural island during the challenging period of the Atlantic Revolutions.

Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A with the audience.

Florida Grand Opera: Lucia Di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti 11/14/26

Cost: $22-325

Trapped between a brother’s political ambitions and a love forbidden by family feud, Lucia secretly pledges herself to Edgardo, her family’s sworn enemy. While he’s away, her brother Enrico forges a letter to convince Lucia that Edgardo has betrayed her — and forces her into a marriage of political convenience to save the family’s crumbling fortunes.
Edgardo returns just as Lucia signs the marriage contract, cursing her before vanishing in despair. Pushed past her breaking point, Lucia descends into madness on her wedding night, killing her new husband in a horrifying, blood-soaked aria that ranks among opera’s most harrowing scenes. Edgardo, learning too late of her innocence and ruin, takes his own life at her tomb — united with Lucia only in death.
Donizetti’s masterpiece blends bel canto’s most demanding vocal writing with raw psychological drama, climaxing in the legendary “Mad Scene” that has tested — and made the careers of — history’s greatest sopranos.

Don Giovanni is a serial seducer who answers to no one — not the women he ruins, not the men who challenge him, not even God. When he kills the father of his latest conquest in a duel, he simply moves on to his next target, brushing off guilt with a shrug and a laugh. His servant Leporello keeps a running tally of his master’s conquests while begging him to change his ways, but Giovanni is incapable of remorse. As betrayed lovers and grieving relatives close in around him, Giovanni remains defiant — even mocking the dead. But when the murdered man’s statue comes to life and offers him one final chance to repent, Giovanni refuses, and is dragged down to hell as the others look on. Mozart’s score swings from comedy to horror in an instant, asking an uncomfortable question: what happens when charm runs out and the bill finally comes due?

Nabucco, King of Babylon, conquers Jerusalem and enslaves its people, declaring himself a god above all others. His adopted daughter Abigaille, driven by jealousy and ambition, seizes the throne for herself the moment Nabucco’s arrogance brings down divine punishment — striking him with madness.
As the enslaved Hebrews mourn their lost homeland in one of opera’s most beloved choruses, Nabucco slowly regains his sanity and his faith, setting the stage for a final reckoning with Abigaille and a reckoning with the cost of his own pride. Verdi’s early masterpiece is a sweeping story of conquest, betrayal, and redemption — propelled by some of the most stirring choral writing ever composed.

From the prison yard of Shawshank Redemption to the heartbreak of Philadelphia, from Bugs Bunny conducting Rossini to the Diva Dance of The Fifth Element, these are the songs that scored our lives — performed live, as they were always meant to be heard. No prior opera experience required. Just a blanket, someone you love, and a night you won’t forget.

When Count Almaviva falls for the spirited Rosina, there’s one problem — her scheming guardian, Doctor Bartolo, wants to marry her himself. Enter Figaro, Seville’s legendary barber and master of chaos, who hatches a plan involving disguises, secret letters, and more schemes than anyone can keep straight. But Rosina isn’t waiting to be rescued — she’s the smartest one in the room. Rossini’s comic masterpiece is an explosion of bel canto brilliance, breakneck comedy, and irresistible melody, where love wins, the old fool loses, and the audience gets a world-class night under the stars.

Presented by Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI) and curated by Rosie Gordon-Wallace (DVCAI Curatorial Advisor) with guest curator Tomas Vu (Professor of Visual Arts, Columbia University), Entrelazado Perpetuo / Perpetual Intertwining transforms the gallery into an immersive environment of painting and sculptural installation.Born in Argentina and raised across Argentina, Brazil, and the United States, Vazquez’s practice is shaped by transnational experience—investigating shelter as both a physical structure and a metaphor for protection, adaptation, and home. Using unconventional materials and monumental forms, the exhibition invites reflection on the lived realities and creative possibilities shaped by movement, scarcity, and resourcefulness.“This exhibition builds on my exploration of the idea of Continuous Collaboration. It is not collaboration in the traditional participatory or social sense, but rather an ontological collaboration. The work needs the world in order to fully exist.”— Leandro VazquezLeandro Vazquez (b. Puerto Belgrano, Argentina; lives and works in Miami, Florida) is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, and installation. He earned a BFA from New World School of the Arts (2007) and has exhibited at venues including the Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College, Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Diaspora Vibe Gallery, and Deering Estate, among others.

For 80 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade has been a place where childhood memories are made, dreams take flight and generations of young people discover just how bright their futures can be.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, the South Florida community is invited to celebrate The Wild About Kids Gala: Celebrating 80 Years, held at the Loews Coral Gables Hotel. The signature event will honor the people, programs and milestone moments that have shaped the organization’s remarkable legacy of empowering youth, strengthening families and building great futures.

For eight decades, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade has been part of growing up in Miami-Dade, helping children and teens explore and develop new interests while building lasting friendships. The Wild About Kids Gala will celebrate that legacy and the generations of young people whose lives have been shaped by the Club, while helping ensure even more children have the opportunities and support they need to build great futures.

Proceeds from the evening will directly support programs across the nonprofit organization’s six Clubs, including after-school care, tutoring and homework assistance, STEM, educational enrichment, college and career readiness, financial literacy, character and leadership development, health and wellness, arts, sports and recreation and summer and winter camps. Together, these opportunities give children and teens a welcoming place to learn, explore their interests, develop new skills and prepare for the future.

The black-tie celebration will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a three-course dinner in the Alhambra Ballroom. Guests will enjoy an exciting silent auction, captivating live entertainment by acclaimed Latin soul artist Lucy Grau, dancing and meaningful moments featuring the remarkable youth of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade.

The event is chaired for the third and final year by longtime supporter and Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade Executive Board Member Michelle Zubizarreta, with fellow Board Member Olga Guilarte serving as Special Event Chair. The Host Committee includes Emely Gazitua, Alina Guasch-Bezold, Carolina Isusquiza, Isabel Jettinghoff, Board Chair Rodolfo “Rudy” Lleonart, Lisa Mendelson, Liana De Mena, Yuni Navarro, Kristina Perez Cubas, Karen Rodriguez, Allison and Andy Stuart and Meredith Virnig.
