East Meets Hollywood Family Arts Festival
Sunday, December 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood will present a free event featuring live performances and interactive workshops for children and their families. “East Meets Hollywood Family Arts Festival” will showcase the popular South Florida-based taiko drumming troupe Fushu Daiko (pictured) with its joyous and powerful Japanese rhythms and Origami artist and storyteller Kuniko Yamamoto with mythological masks and puppets, stunning paper flower arrangements and heartfelt stories from ancient Japan. Experience first-hand Japanese body art, drawing Far East-style landscapes and learning the unique “fish-rub” printmaking technique in which fish scales become an art supply. Children can add their creative touches to ArtsPark by doing sidewalk art in select areas. This festival is sponsored by the Hollywood Downtown Community Redevelopment Agency.
