{Finally! My photographs from the big Miami Art Week surrounding Art Basel, December 2-7, 2008. I had over 2000 photographs to go through. Below is a summary, click the thumbnails to be taken to the galleries. Or you can just click HERE to be taken to the main gallery and peruse at your leisure.}
We actually started the week on Monday with the Knight Foundation Award ceremony, the Diaspora Vibe Gallery, and Jason Beitler Fine Arts, but I did not have my camera with me.
So, Tuesday was Aqua Wynwood, Photo Miami Opening, Miami Photo Expo Opening, and ending up at O.H.W.O.W. Gallery for some live music!
Wednesday we did Aqua Miami Beach, Kaiju at Art Center, Bass Museum, Art Positions Opening, Yelle Concert, and then saw Ellis G do some great sidewalk art.
Thursday I hung out at the Bustello lounge for a while blogging, then headed over to the Gen Art Vanguard sneak preview, we headed up to Bakehouse, then Bridge Miami Beach, and ended the night at the Soleil lounge at Table 8 which was awesome!
Friday we started at the Surface Lounge atop the Gansevoort South, then headed over to the media party withScion at Raleigh which was absolutely fabulous, then off to the Pool Art Fair which we always love, over to Art Now at the cute South Seas Hotel, then off to a special party at Locust Projects, then ending the night at Vanguard by Gen Art. Overall, I would have to say that Friday was the best day of the week.
Saturday we stopped by this funny wooden construct to check out some Watches, then to the Artists Fair at the Shelborne which had some really good stuff, stopped by the Bustello cafe for some lunch and found the artist for their poster signing them, then perused Art Positions for a bit, went by Ink at Dorcester which was very nice, stopped by the Art of Shade trunk show at South Seas with the Art Now Fair, headed up to the Deuville to see the Nobe 67 show, then over to wander Wynwood for a bit, and found the Bombay Sapphire Lounge open, of course, and then hung out at Edge Zones for a bit, so good to see them back.
By Sunday, of course, we were dragging a bit, but there was still a lot we wanted to see. Art Miami was okay, The Station was one of the best pieces of the entire week, Red Dot, Sculpt Miami, NADA, Pulse, Ping Pong at Gen Art, and ending at the Pool Art Fair.
{Of course, there were tons of little things that we saw in-between, which I tried to catch, graffiti, the Punk Rock installation, the Obey posters, and many galleries in between. All in all, I would have to say this is our best year yet. We had a fabulous time, met some great people, drank an enormous amount, and experienced some fantastic art.}
