Alex Yanes, 31, uses bold colors and clean defined outlines, to bring his figurative style to life. Born and raised in Miami, this Artist’s work encompasses the culture and vibrancy of South Florida. “My upbringing can be seen in color schemes and content of my work… it’s really Miami. I am a genuine product of this city.” Yanes opened “Alt Space gallery” in Miami’s historic Coconut Grove in January of 2008. Since then he has been commissioned by various corporate entities such as Red Bull, The Learning Channel’s hit show “Miami Ink”, D.C. Shoes, Cuervo 1800, My Space Latino and Publix Supermarkets. In December of 2008, Yanes’ custom designed calendar debuts in all of Publix Supermarket’s stores. The artist painted a 13 piece series, consisting of Florida’s endangered species to bring awareness to the fragile ecosystem which surrounds us all. The paintings will be on display in various locations through out the State of Florida during 2009, including the Miami Children’s Museum and the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art.
