MAM Summer Nights
6:30-9pm
Come to MAM every second Thursday during the summer months to enjoy a late night at the Museum under the stars. Experience the convergence of creativity as the visual and performing arts come together in new and exciting ways.
“Under the streets, there is a sound..” This month’s featured performer, Afrobeta’s musical affair began in 2006 in Miami when Tony “Smurphio” Laurencio’s psychedelic, keyboard-driven beats met Cuci Amador’s fun and lively voice. Their music is a cosmic mix of electronic, funk, 80s and ghetto-tech house. Winners of the Miami New Times awards for Best Local Songwriter in 2008 and Best Electronic Band in 2007, Afrobeta is one of the most original bands to emerge from the Miami scene in recent years.
