Sistas of the Soil Evening of Elegance – Featuring Dobby Dobson
Sistas of the Soil presents their First Annual Evening of Elegance, Dinner and Dance on Saturday January 30, 2010 at 7:00PM at the Crown Plaza Hotel, 1601 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33415. Featuring World Renown Singer, Songwriter, Producer and Actor Dobby Dobson with music by Bradley Brown and Friends. Come be apart of this prestigious event and witness the unveiling of the much talked about magazine entitled “SISTAS IN BLOOM.”
Sistas of the Soil (SOS), the brain child of Phyllis Beckford-Smith, is a networking coalition for professional and business sistas of Caribbean heritage, who are seeking to connect with other truly empowered Caribbean Sistas. Our mission is develop and promote alternative strategies for educational and career development of all women of the Caribbean; provide scholarship assistance to deserving girls; provide support and social assistance to our seniors in the community; to empower each other, through the sharing of vital information and resources ; and to provide leadership, role models, and mentors for aspiring young women.
Sistas of the Soil presents a unique opportunity for any woman who boasts a Caribbean heritage to be a part of a group of privileged and committed women on a level of uncommon depth, and to participate in an honest, empowered and inspiring sistahood. We come together to build bonds of sistahood through understanding, trust and total commitment. As sistas, we can use our relationships, connections, opportunities and resources to assist others while working in collaboration to promote social change in our communities and the world. We are building a healthy, authentic and mutually respectful intergenerational sistahood. After all, what would life be like if we could unleash all that we have and all that we are, on behalf of all the people in our lives and those we hope to adopt as part of
our extended family.
Sistas of the soil would like to provide at least two scholarships to deserving young women of Caribbean heritage who are entering college in that particular year. If you would like a chance at becoming a recipient of our scholarship, we request that you submit an essay answering the prompt, “How I feel about myself as a Caribbean woman?” Essays should be submitted to the scholarship department’s email, sosessay@gmail.com by April 30, 2010. At the Sistas of the Soil Evening of Elegance on January 30, 2010, you can expect to be thoroughly entertained by the legendary Dobby Dobson who is known for songs such as Loving pauper, Seems to me I’m loosing, Sweeter Than Honey and more. Bradley Brown and Friends along with various other local entertainers will keep you dancing through the night.
