Enjoy the beauty of Big Cypress National Preserve and help those in need!
In 2009 we built homes, removed invasive vines, cleaned islands of trash, and much more. Let’s start the year with a relaxing day in the National Park so we can rest up for February’s Wolf Pack Gives Back event with Habitat for Humanity.
Join the Wolf Pack Gives Back on a ranger-led tour:
Heart of the Swamp Canoe Trip (4hrs). Canoes and equipment will be provided. Come prepared with water, food, binoculars, sun protection and insect repellent. If it’s cold, bring plenty of warm clothes. Water shoes, or shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, are also a good idea.
To help those in need, bring at least $5 worth of canned food, which will be donated to Stop Hunger, Inc (http://www.1wp.com/go/stophunger/company-info.html). Many of the community food banks are depleted after the holidays.
Big Cypress National Park is located about 75 minutes west of Miami on SW 8 St (US Highway 41). The canoe launch is located on the north side of US 41 (Tamiami Trail/8 St) in the Big Cypress National Preserve, approximately 75 miles west of Miami. If you pass HWY 29, Wootens Airboats and Big Cypress HQ turn around – you have gone too far. The launch is a small parking lot just west of H.P Williams Roadside Park. Signs are posted.
