Join us for the inauguration of the Wolfsonian Teaching Gallery at The Frost Art Museum and the opening of the exhibition Women’s Work/Men’s Work: Labor and Gender in America. Drawn from The Wolfsonian’s collection, the exhibition explores how art, propaganda, and advertising have represented changing ideas about the kinds of work appropriate for men and women. The exhibition is co-curated by Alex Lichtenstein, FIU associate professor of history, in conjunction with his course on US labor history. The exhibition is The Wolfsonian’s first installation at The Frost Art Museum on FIU’s main campus, part of an ongoing initiative made possible by funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the generous collaboration of the Frost. Also on view at The Frost Art Museum that evening: the opening of the exhibition The Fantastic World of José Gurvich.
