Delano, A Morgans Hotel, Miami Beach FL
Thousands of people from around the world will flock to Miami Beach for the annual Winter Music Conference and those looking for the hottest, must-see events depend on Giant Step to give them an unforgettable music experience. Celebrating their 14th year at the annual conference, the music and lifestyle marketing company brings its Sunset Soiree to Delano with exclusive performances both poolside and in The Florida Room. Revelers can expect an impressive lineup that in previous years has featured such artists as Erykah Badu, Daft Punk, Wale, Matisyahu, Kruder & Dorfmeister and others.
DJs Gilles Peterson, Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love and Nickodemus join forces for a night of Latin music to kick off the festivities with a very special live performance by Chico Mann.
Entrance is Free but strictly RSVP only.
Making his return to Sunset Soiree after a 3-year hiatus, Peterson may be best known for his much loved genre-exploding syndicated radio show Worldwide on BBC Radio 1 which has cemented his tastemaker status. He has recently worked on numerous Latin music compilations including Havana Cultura (Cuba), Brazilika for Far Out Recordings (Brazil) and a double album for iconic Latin music label Fania’s DJ Series (Miami).
Representing Puerto Rico via New York City, Bobbito Garcia is a true modern day renaissance man filling the roles of author, announcer, TV personality, magazine Editor in Chief and world-class club DJ. In 1998, The Source honored WKCR’s Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show as the Best Hip Hop Radio Show of All-Time and his exploration of Latin music is sure to keep the crowd going.
Joining them in the DJ booth will be Wonderwhell Recording’s Nickodemus from NYC-based DJ collective Turntables on the Hudson whose foray into Latin music includes the tracks “Mi Swing Es Tropical” as heard on a commercial for iTunes & iPod.
Multi-instrumentalist / producer Chico Mann, who fills the 30+ year gap between Afrobeat, Afrocuban, freestyle and electronic music, joins the night for an exclusive appearance.
Also on hand will be Los Angeles-based Hit + Run offering free, live screen printing. The evening is presented by Levi’s in association with Windows 7.
