‘Voices of Honor’ Tour Comes to Miami, FL

The national ‘Voices of Honor’ tour is an effort to highlight the costs associated with serving under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” as told through the experiences of gay and straight veterans who have lived and breathed this archaic and painful law.

Passed in 1993, the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ law allows gay, lesbian, and bisexual service personnel to serve in the armed forces as long as their sexual orientation is not publicly disclosed or discovered. As of 2008, more than 13,000 men and women have been discharged from the military because of their sexual orientation, including more than 60 Arabic linguists and nearly 800 other service members in critical occupational fields.

La gira nacional “Voces Del Honor” es un esfuerzo para esaltar el costo asociado con hacer servicio bajo “No Preguntes, No lo cuentes” así como nos lo relatan los veteranos tanto gays como heterosexuales que han vivido y respirado esta arcaica y dolorosa ley.

La ley “No Preguntes, No lo cuentes” fue aprobada en 1993 y permite que gays, lesbianas y bisexuales presten servicio en las fuerzas armadas siempre y cuando su orientación sexual no sea públicamente divulgada o descubierta Desde 2008 mas de 13000 hombres y mujeres han sido dados de baja de la milicia debido a su orientación sexual, incluyendo mas de 60 lingüistas árabes y cerca de 800 miembros de servicio en otros campos ocupacionales de importancia critica.
