Carlos Averhoff, GRAMMY-winning virtuoso saxophonist, has performed throughout the world. Co-founder and performer with the world-renowned jazz band IRAKERE, Averhoff has over 30 recordings to his credit, including a GRAMMY-winner for Best Latin Recording (1979) and two subsequent GRAMMY nominations. He has shared the stage with Stan Getz, Tito Puente, Joe Henderson, Chick Corea, George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, The Heath Brothers, Kenny G, Steps Ahead, Manhattan Transfer, Dave Valentin, Carmen McRae, Betty Crater, and others. As Chucho Valdés put it, “Irakere’s D’Rivera-Averhoff-Varona horn section is the best ever in the history of Cuban Music.”
