New Work Miami 2010 Afterhours
All Afterhours programs: 6-9pm; MAM members $5, non-members $15
Thursday, August 5
Miami Art Museum
101 West Flagler Street Miami, FL
Performance artist Maria José Arjona challenges visitors to find a way to take a diamond from her mouth; the winner of this power struggle becomes the stone’s owner. In the gallery, meet artists Michael Genovese and Gean Moreno/Ernesto Oroza, plus Talking Head Transmitters (segment on the environment: “The Big Spillâ€).
In conjunction with the exhibition New Work Miami 2010, Miami Art Museum will present a high-energy, summer’s worth of after-hours events, gallery talks and artist performances. New Work Miami 2010 (July 18, 2010 – October 17, 2010) provides a snapshot of the local art scene today through a variety of media including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video, environmental installation and performance.
