MANO’s new collection; ID: Self Identification explores the aspects of adapting to a new culture. The need to fit into an adopted country can be bittersweet and often results in the hybridization of cultural identity. MANOS’s eye-catching and thought provoking works reference passport ID photos and incorporate elements of collage both as technique and metaphor. “I’ve always been fascinated with the cultural patchwork of the United States” said MANO, “My interest is rooted in my own immigrant experience through Operation Pedro Pan. Through this collection, I wanted to create a conversation that would focus on the similarities of our own or that of our family’s experience”.

On Saturday, August 28, MANO is pleased to open his new Studio/Project Space located in the Bird Road Art District for a preview of his ID: Self Identification collection.
