Celebrate Women’s Equality Day with Commissioner Deede Weithorn, with a suffragette style march down Lincoln Road, followed by a reception in the Lincoln Plaza.

“Women’s Equality Day” Campaign. It marks the 90th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote in August 1920.

Commissioner Weithorn and friends will gather at the Euclid Circle on Lincoln Road, ready to begin the march west towards the 1111 Promenade. Special guests include Mayor Matti Herrera Bower and Kimberly Mitchem-Rasmussem, from the White House Project. Participants will be decorated with a white flower, courtesy of Karla Conceptual Event Experience.

A special performance by singer/songwriter Zania Sala will take place at the 1111 Promenade. She is a native Puerto Rican who has a voice that can soothe your senses but can strike you with its versatility and playful layers. There will also be a raffle that will benefit the White House Project’s first training experience in Florida, Go Run 2010, which will be held in the Miami Beach Convention Center, Friday August 27.

The event is free and open to the public.
