Life Is Art is proud to bring you another great showcase in our weekly River Of Art series. As always, we invite you to enjoy a wonderful evening of art and music. There is never a cover and we never ask for donations. Bleu Moon donates a portion of the sales to Life Is Art to help us fund our other programs. We are building towards a bigger art fair and this makes a big difference. Hopefully you can make it this week and have a good time while supporting the arts.

GREG PITTS

Born to a single parent family, Greg Pitts started out life at a disadvantage. Growing up without a father figure made life less than ideal. He did not meet his father until the age of 12. As a young teen, he exhibited artistic capabilities, however the lack of understanding and from his family lead to discouragement. He continued to strive to express himself artistically. He purchased his first camera on lay-a-way from a camera store in his hometown of Lima, Ohio.
His artistic eye and fashion sense while a senior in high school lead to him was offered admission to a prestigious fashion design school, but because of stereotypical attitudes, students at school would call him a nerd and at home no one would assist him in the application process, stating that that kind of stuff is for sissies. Discouraged, he graduated without any formal plans. Later, he joined the Army in order to provide for his soon to be born son.
Despite a difficult start in life, he continued to express his artistic side.
Greg Pitts abstract artwork has been compared to that of abstract impressionist artist Jackson Pollock. He was the featured artist of the month for February 2009 with Elements of Art and has been exhibited at Etra Fine Art Gallery and Ornare both in Miami, FL.

I am currently a student at Miami Dade College in the process of getting my A.A in Fine Arts to then transfer to USF St. Petersburg Graphic Design School. I also work in Miami Dade College’s Visual Resource Center as an assistant to the Art Director; a Fine Arts library setting for students to learn Art from Prehistory to Contemporary and engage in Art exploration through digital media and slides.
My passion for Photography began early in High School and since then I discovered ways to express myself with others through Art. I want to show the audience what I see, that’s all, think of it as an invitation to my world.
MYKA
I have been dancing for 10 years at local events and social parties. My dance bellydancing Egyptian style. I have participated in the National Night Out Police events in 2008 and 2007, City of North Miami Thanksgiving Parade, Calle Ocho events and many other local socials.
