Florida is out to show the world our beaches are as wonderful as ever with a one-day beach walk that covers Florida’s 825 miles of beaches!
On November 6th, 2010 on beaches across the state, Volunteer Broward, along with host sites from every beach county in Florida, is looking for volunteers to walk a designated mile and take a photo to upload to the internet. Each county will tabulate the county’s walked miles and communicate to the Official VISIT FLORIDA Beach Walk Center where a noon press conference will share the success with media. Some areas are hosting special events, and media is being invited to cover the story or participate as walkers.
All beach photos will be displayed in real time on www.VISITFLORIDA.com/beachwalk – where people can vote on their favorite Florida beach mile and be entered to win $5,000 dollars and a Mazda Miata so they can take their own Sunshine State beach tour.
Volunteer Broward invites you to check in at one of our seven city beach sites to walk a mile and snap a photo of yourself at one of Florida’s pristine beaches. Specific check-in locations are being determined at the seven cities below. Register now!
***This is a non-orientation project. If you are new to Volunteer Broward, you will be asked to create a member account to register for the Beach Walk. After activating your member account, you will encounter a screen that will ask you to register for an orientation. Feel free to bypass this screen and return to the homepage where you’ll find the Beach Walk registration link. You can then proceed to register for a beach walk location with no problem.
