Hialeah Hosts Its Fourth Annual Tobacco Youth Prevention Summit 11/5/10

Fourth Annual Tobacco Youth Prevention Summit
Friday, November 5, 2010.
Presentations will be from at 6:00 p.m. through 9 p.m.
Goodlet Theater, 4200 West 8 Avenue, Hialeah

Mayor Julio Robaina, the esteemed City Council, the City of Hialeah Department of Parks and Recreation’s Early Prevention and Intervention Youth and Internship Program (E.P.I), along with the Miami-Dade County Health Department and the University of Miami, will celebrate its 4th Annual Youth Tobacco Prevention Summit.

This year the Youth Tobacco Prevention Summit will highlight the candy-flavored tobacco products that have emerged from big tobacco companies. These new, flavored tobacco products are now being used to allure youth into lifelong tobacco addiction.

Tobacco use continues to be the single most preventable cause of death and disease in the United States. In most cases, the decision to smoke or use tobacco products is not made by adults, but impressionable adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age. Don’t let our children become a statistic. Show your support for creating a tobacco-free Miami-Dade and protecting the health and future of our youth.

For more information on the summit please contact William Sanchez at the City of Hialeah’s Department of Parks and Recreation, at 305-687-2650.
