Galleries along Main Highway and St. Stephens Art Show now celebrating 23 years by Betty Alvarez

As I was heading to the Coconut Grove Festival, I always stroll along Main Highway and see what local vendors and artists have on display. As I started my stroll, I came upon many jewelry vendors and a very colorful car created by artist Marcie Ziv. This car was very popular to the locals and tourist alike. An asian tourist dressed in very colorful attire took pictures with the automobile and it caught the attention of a TV commercial crew who were filming the festivities.

Afterwards, I wandered into a small art show which showcased many local artists and vendors. It was late morning and many people were already in this small art show. Painting and ceramic displays wowed the many visitors.

Next door, the 23rd Annual St. Stephens Art Show was taking place. This fine art show not only attracted thousands of art aficionados and patrons, but also served as one of the area’s top non-profit events that help to fund numerous outreach programs in Miami. Visitors enjoyed artwork from more than 160 renowned artists, an international food court, children’s activity area, an authentic English tea room and musical entertainment. Ranked top in the country by Sunshine Artist Magazine, the show’s proceeds allowed St. Stephens to offer a range of cultural, spiritual and entertainment activities to the community, as part of its vision to be “The Heart of the Grove and Reaching Beyond.”
