Eight choreographers, two vocalists, one musician, six works
Joanne Barrett will present “silly walk blues” is a trio of women bravely strolling and strutting their individuality. Inspired by Monty Pythons Ministry of Silly Walks which is all out playful and serious at the same time, these dancers show intricate partnering while maintaining an edge of slapstick. The dance is performed to Jazz Vocalist Wendy Pederson’s live and wacky scat singing with Julio Hernandez on the bass.
Dia Dearstyne and Kjerstein Lysne will present (snap)shots a dance that explores destination and embarks on a physical journey, which questions “Do we really ever arrive or is this just about a journey?â€
Ivonne Batanero will present an excerpt from 528 days inspired by the last days of her mother’s life
Karen Peterson will present an excerpt from “Buoyant Dreams†a trio that explores the physical sensuality between nature and self with video images by Maria Lino.
Jennifer Smallwood and Katrina Weaver will present “Unhinged†the idea of becoming unhinged, that we are not always in control. Imperfection is the common thread that links us together.
Jenny Larsson will present “…..and then she said” inspired by Leonard Cohen’s lyrics. Dancers include Ilana Reynolds, Damaris Ferrer and Jenny Larsson. Singer: Helena Nylander Redman

The non-profit Karen Peterson and Dancers, founded in 1990, is Miami’s only integrated and inclusive company of dancers with and without disabilities. The company provides a positive role model for the disability community and offers new visual inspiration for traditional dance audiences. It presents community performances and educational workshops, commissions and produces the work of mixed-ability dance artists, promotes and supports international cultural exchange, and provides rehearsal rentals and performance opportunities. The company and has an active year round community outreach program and performed last season in Trebinje, Bosnia and Washington D.C. for the VSA International Conference
