Born in Santiago de Cuba. Hilario Bell received his first musical education at the Vocational Art School “Jose Maria Herediaâ€. Later he entered the Professional Conservatory of Music “Esteban Salasâ€. In 1995 he served as the musical director of “Murallaâ€. Once graduated in 1997 he reached the dream of every musician, to share the stage with top bands and orchestras playing timba, jazz and fusion.
He worked as a professor of music at the conservatory of music, and in 1998 became part of the group “Habana Ensembleâ€. He traveled to Mexico in 1999 playing with Compay Segundo; during that time he started his own musical production “HILARIO BELL & CYMBALSâ€. He also performed with Ricardo Montaner, Osmany Paredes, Dave Valentin, Amauri Gutierrez, Jane Munet, Don Grusin, Fran Quintero, Guaco and others.
He now resides in Miami, where he has recorded and shared stage with great figures like Paquito de Rivera, Giovanni Hidalgo, James Galway, Joshua Bell, Cachao, Luis Enrique, Willi Chirino, Lucresia, Ricardo RodrÃguez, E.B.S. Band, Bobi Carcasés, Roberto Carcasés, Armando Manzanero, Pancho Céspedes, Juanito Márquez, German Piferrer, and Candido Camero among others.
With the group “Tiempo Libre†he also received a GRAMMY nomination for “Bach in Havanaâ€. He has released one CD “Live at E.B.S. Jazz Caféâ€, and his latest, “Neshamahâ€, will soon be released in July of 2011.
