Kim’s Good Karma Group, founded by Miami philanthropist Kimberly Shenker-Bacardi, is a charitable organization consisting of herself and like-minded friends dedicated to helping those less fortunate around the world. Ms. Bacardi became aware of the essential work that Food For The Poor (FFP) has undertaken in Haiti after witnessing her neighbor, Dr. Jules Cadet, tirelessly raise funds over the past few years for his countrymen. As Ms. Bacardi is well aware of how important fundraising is for any organization, she decided to go where her heart guided her. Kim’s Good Karma Group was born.

After visiting Haiti on a mission trip with Food For The Poor and The Florida Marlins, Ms. Bacardi recognized the need to help. She visited many of the FFP villages, orphanages, and facilities they constructed and witnessed the conditions most Haitians were living in. She was moved by her experiences so much that she decided that the first fundraising effort that Kim’s Good Karma Group (KGKG) would take on would be for for the construction of the Kim’s Good Karma Group Community Center within the Marlins’ Homes For Haiti Village, built by Food For The Poor.

The KGKG community center will be a multi-use facility, providing vocational training classes and community meetings, as well as offering a safe and sturdy shelter during hurricane season. “I am so excited for this opportunity because it does not stop here; the more money we raise, the more lives we can positively affect. The plans are to have a minimum of 25 homes, sanitation, a water source and community center. Our goal for the community center is $40,000, and the more we give, the more we can add to help more families with additional houses, solar lighting, and agriculture.” Kim remarked after her trip.

For information on how you can help KGKG or for interviews please contact goodkarmamiami@aol.com.
