The Miami On Stage series will feature the following performance at the new On.Stage Black.Box Theater at Miami-Dade County Auditorium: “INTIMATE SPACES. Contemporary flamenco concertâ€, with José Luis RodrÃguez (soloist), Niurca Márquez (dance), Alex Jordan (flamenco guitar) and Rómulo Bernal (percussion).
“Intimate Spaces,†is a concert in which Rodriguez’s compositions transport the audience into an internal world, where experiences and emotions are evoked through flamenco music.
We have tried to recreate the “Intimate Spaces†of our mind, from the simplicity and clarity of the lighting and scenery, simple and raw, without concessions.
This concert is an invitation to encounter the silences, to walk with the music and move with the dance. And it is born of the constant search for a space where words are not necessary, and where only a breath can be the voice, where the music stops, where the dance show us the image of the melodies, or takes us by the hand to that empty or full space where the memories, the emotions…all that is intangible lives.
All of this, without loosing the deepest flamenco essence, in a new and contemporary aesthetic, that is merely a reflection of our time.
Since his recent arrival in the US, José LuÃs RodrÃguez has presented two new concerts, Intimate Spaces and io:flamenco abstranctions and was chosen as a featured artist for the innauguration of the new Spanish Cultural Center in the presence of Her Majesty, Queen Doña SofÃa of Spain.
José LuÃs RodrÃguez is considered one of the most important guitarists of his generation, not only because of his virtuosity, but also for his ability to fuse elements of diverse cultures to create a very personal style based on the most fundamental essence of flamenco. His elegant style has made him into one of the most reconized and internationally respected artists of the current flamenco scene.
The concert is presented in collaboration with Miami-Dade County Auditorium, and as part of FUNDarte’s Miami On Stage series.
FUNDarte is a multidisciplinary non-profit organization dedicated to producing, presenting, and promoting music, theater, dance, film and visual arts that speak to Miami’s diverse cultures.
