Sara Colombo to host VIP reception in honor of world-renowned photographer on Tues., Nov. 29
Luxe design showplace NEST, along with owner Sara Colombo, will debut “Jazz & Models,†a collection of works by legendary photographer Marco Glaviano, during Art Basel Miami Beach. A VIP opening reception will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in honor of Glaviano, who is recognized as a pioneer in fashion photography having photographed more than 500 covers and editorials for the most prestigious international publications including Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair and Harper’s Bazaar, among others.
“Jazz & Models†features 26 images spanning Glaviano’s career from the 1970’s until today. Capturing and combining his love for jazz and his eye for beauty – Glaviano is notably recognized as an influential force in developing the supermodel phenomenon in the 1980’s – the exhibit will showcase photography of supermodels such as Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigová, Paulina Porizkova and Stephanie Seymour, and legendary jazz musicians such as Chet Baker, Sonny Rollins and Dizzy Gillespie. The exhibit will remain open until spring 2012.
Marco Glaviano is a reputable figure in the fashion industry as a premier photographer who has been sought after by famous supermodels such as Cindy Crawford, Paulina Porizkova, and Eva Herzigova. He has been the leading pioneer of digital photography and was the first to publish the first-ever digital picture in American Vogue in 1982. His photographs of landscapes, portraits and jazz have been showcased in famous museums and private collections worldwide. He also designed and founded Pier 59 Studios in New York which is still recognized today as the most important and well-known photo studio in the world.
