Join us at the Miami Science Museum for a guided tour of photographer Barry Fellman’s new art photography installation: Mangrove Coast and enjoy a different perspective of the mangrove habitat, one of South Florida’s most vibrant and vital ecosystems. Then, hear from journalist and photographer Kennedy Warne, author of the new book Let Them Eat Shrimp, and learn about the threats to mangroves worldwide.

Learn more about competing uses for mangrove habitat ranging from coastal development to shrimp aquaculture, listen to opposing points of view, then weigh in with your own opinion at our first-ever Penny Party, an opportunity for you to put in your own two cents.

Also, get a preview of the latest architectural renderings of our new Miami Science Museum in downtown Museum Park, where we’ll be exploring these kinds of environmental issues on a larger scale, and end with a guided tour of our recently opened Sea Lab, where the Museum is prototyping exhibits and growing live corals and mangroves for the aquatic exhibits in our new Museum.

Current exhibitions at the Museum, viewable daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., include Earth From Space: The Magic Planet, Energy Tracker, Heart Smart, The Sea Lab, Wildlife Center and Biscayne’s Underwater Secrets.
