From comedy to tragedy, engaging memory, fantasy and dream, embracing the heights of human passion and inspired by the most memorable Elizabethan characters in all of dramatic literature, this theatrical adventure brings to life the women fashioned by the most produced playwright of our times: William Shakespeare. Written and directed by Neher Jacqueline Briceño, the play will be performed in Spanish with English supertitles.
Mujeres de Shakespeare debuted at the acclaimed XXVI International Hispanic Theater Festival of Miami this past July, receiving raves reviews. El Nuevo Herald described the performace as “Overall, it is a performance deserving of Prometeo’s fame, a great artistic history that spans over 35 years and is unique in the nation offering the opportunity of conservatory-style actor training in Spanish”
This youthful infusion by Prometeo actors of the Bard’s work on some of his most exciting women has put Prometeo in the spotlight for touring opportunities. “Touring this piece would be part of the artistic exchange Prometeo is always striving to create with other institutions, promoting our program and the diversity of work we do in Miami†says the director of Prometeo Theatre, Joann Yarrow.
The performances will be in Spanish with English supertitles. Tickets are $15.
