Today’s workplace with its never ending stream of phone calls and e-mails makes it nearly impossible to disconnect for lunch. Coral Gables offers just the remedy with a free lunch time concert series to be held every Wednesday from January 11th through March 28th at the Coral Gables Museum Plaza, located at 285 Aragon Avenue. From noon to 2 pm, guests are welcome to come and disconnect from the business world and connect to music on the corner of Salzedo Street and Aragon Avenue. Forgot your lunch? No problem, box lunches will be for sale along with a drawing for a gift every Wednesday.
Kicking off the concert series On Wednesday, January 11, will be popular jazz musician Troy “Satchmo†Anderson, whose distinguished career includes playing with the Florida Vanguards as a lead soprano player/soloist and with the Bayonne Bridgemen Drum and Bugle Corps. Anderson has traveled to numerous major cities in the United States performing with his band as a tribute to his idol, the original “Satchmo,†Louis Armstrong.
Well-known vocalist Nicole Henry will perform Wednesday, January 18. The gifted Miami Beach artist is one of the jazz world’s most acclaimed and respected young vocalists having already earned three international top 10 albums, the most recent being her 2008 release The Very Thought of You. She has also established an international reputation as a beguiling live performer, enchanting audiences on multiple continents.
Jazz in the Gables is presented by the City of Coral Gables in partnership with the Business Improvement District of Coral Gables, the Miami Jazz Cooperative, and the Coral Gables Museum and is supported by the Knight Foundation’s Power2give.org, a new fundraising platform to support arts and cultural projects in Miami.
