The Garden hosts the screening of Taking Roots an 80-minute film by Lisa Merton and Alan Dater that tells the dramatic story of Kenyan Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Wangari Maathai whose simple act of planting trees grew into a nationwide movement to safeguard the environment, protect human rights and defend democracy.

Tickets are $10 at the door, $7 for members of sponsoring organizations ECOMB (Environmental Coalition of Miami and the Beaches), GTAG (Greenspace/Tree Advisory Group), and Miami Beach Botanical Garden Green Book Club.

The film will be introduced by John Oldenburg, City of Miami Beach Assistant Director of Parks.
