Produced by the same team behind the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by food & wine, Florida Blue presents Fun and Fit as a Family sponsored by Carnival featuring Kellogg’s Kidz Kitchen will return for its fifth year. Taking place at Jungle Island, one of Miami’s premier theme parks, the event will once again bring together everyone’s favorite celebrity chefs, culinary personalities, health and fitness professionals, and more for a weekend of interactive learning for the whole family!
“The most important mission we can undertake as food professionals is to teach children about what it means to cook and eat healthy foods,†notes Andrew Zimmern, host of Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods. “As a dad, I personally understand the vital need to keep it fun in the kitchen, and when I do, our son responds as enthusiastically as the massive crowds of children we see on the road whenever we do these interactive demos.â€
Fun and Fit as a Family once again welcomes a star-studded roster of chefs and culinary talent to help educate families about how to make healthier eating choices. Culinary demonstrations in the Kellogg’s Kidz Kitchen have become an annual highlight for children and parents alike, as everyone’s favorite personalities create healthy dishes worth getting excited about. The 2012 roster includes demonstrations from Sunny Anderson, Rocco DiSpirito, Guy Fieri, Robert Irvine, Rachael Ray, and Andrew Zimmern.
Kids get the chance to experiment with all the major food groups first-hand in the Whole Foods Market Food Lab presented by Vitamix. There, Nickelodeon’s Reed Alexander along with Michelle Bernstein, Adrianne Calvo, Melissa d’Arabian, Rocco DiSpirito, and Jeff Mauro will guide children 5 years of age and up through hands-on recipe testing using only the freshest ingredients for healthy results that are sure to make the whole family happy.
Physical fitness activities provided by Florida International University and healthy food samplings from sponsors such as Badia, Barilla, Bertolli, Goya, Pollo Tropical and many more are sure to keep the entire family active and satisfied for the whole day of enjoying the fascinating animal exhibits at Jungle Island’s unprecedented sustainable natural environment.
The purpose of Fun and Fit as a Family is to educate children and parents about healthy lifestyle options in a hands-on manner that fosters true understanding of the options available to families. Vibrant activities from Carnival and an interactive garden experience from Florida Blue accent the healthy food samplings and culinary demonstrations for a truly well-rounded event. Fun and Fit as a Family aims to show families that through daily exercise and healthy food choices, they can improve the quality of their lives and have fun doing it!
