Celebrate Black History Month! Since the invention of the airplane, aviation has been associated with adventure and heroism. For African Americans, however, flight opportunities were initially limited – a consequence of racial discrimination. Learn about the African Americans who broke these barriers from the early pioneers and barnstormers through the Tuskegee airmen and Shuttle astronauts in this special presentation by Von Hardesty, author of Black Wings: Courageous Stories of African Americans in Aviation and Space History. Cost: HistoryMiami members: Free; Non-members: Free with general museum admission ($8). For more information call 305-375-1492 or visit www.historymiami.org.
