To what extent does the documentary nature of photography as a medium affect our understanding of what we see. by Amalia Caputo

Amalia Caputo is a photo based artist and art historian. She has a BA in art history from Universidad Central de Venezuela, and an MA from New York University and the International Center of Photography, in the fields of art theory and photography. As an artist, she has a 20+ years career of exhibitions worldwide and is currently preparing a new upcoming solo show to be held in Caracas, Venezuela, her hometown. Her work is represented in various public and private collections including those of the Galeria de Arte Nacional in Caracas Venezuela, Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California, the Fundación Banco Mercantil Collection in Venezuela, and the Ella Fontanals Cisneros Collection in Miami. Her range of professional experience within the art world includes working at museums, art institutions, the coordination of exhibitions and art publications, co-curating exhibitions, writing, and lecturing mainly about photography. She has written amongst other publications for Revista Estilo, Revista Imagen, Páginas Culturales de El Universal, Revista Extra Cámara and more recently for Arte al Día and Art Nexus, in Miami.
