Midori, violin
Johannes Brahms: Variations on a Theme by Haydn
Jean Sibelius: Concerto for Violin in D minor
Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 in C minor
Midori is widely known for her dazzling performances and the scope of her astonishing career, which blossomed shortly after conductor Zubin Mehta invited the young violinist at the age of 11 to be a surprise guest soloist with the New York Philharmonic.
Midori will perform the popular Sibelius Concerto for Violin with one of the world’s leading orchestral ensembles. Under the direction of Maestro Osmo Vänskä since 2003, the Minnesota Orchestra has enjoyed significant success and critical praise for performances throughout the world. The New Yorker music critic Alex Ross wrote “The Minnesota Orchestra sounded, to my ears, like the greatest orchestra in the world.”
