The greatest love story of all time comes to the Adrienne Arsht Center and the Broward Center as Florida Grand Opera presents Roméo et Juliette. Charles Gounod’s sensuous music vividly brings Shakespeare’s tragedy about unrestrained teenage passion to life in a critically-acclaimed, visually-explosive production, featuring an ingenious set lit with stunning, evocative projected imagery.
Direct from her performances as Juliette at the prestigious Royal Opera House in London and La Scala in Milan, Mexican soprano MarÃa Alejandres stars. Of her London performance as Juliette, Intermezzo opera blog said, “A big lustrous lyric soprano emerged. Shaping her phrases with innate musicality, she radiated sweetness and wholesomeness.”
French tenor Sébastien Guèze stars as Roméo. Opera News calls him “one of the most promising young tenors of his generation.”
