Artists in Action!, in its third year at Girls’ Club, invites the public to get to know local artists through a series of four informal artist talks and presentations.
Join us as Odalis Valdivieso shares her work, her inspirations and creative processes and enjoy informal dialogue on contemporary art in general.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Odalis is a Miami-based artist who questions conventional assumptions of the limitations of photography. Her recent works focus on the intersection of urban landscapes and abstract spatial relationships. Her current system isolates the photographic “moment” and the physical materiality of a photograph.
Odalis received an MA in Photography from The RCA, London, UK and was a winner of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Grant in 2004. She was part of Talking Head Transmitters, an experimental low – frequency radio, airing at 88.3 MHz FM from 2005 until 2010. Her work is included in numerous public and private collections and has recently been featured in the exhibitions as Practices Remain, Norwegian Wood Building, Miami, FL, SET, Bridge Red Studios – Project Space, North Miami, FL, Noise Field, Dorsch Gallery, Miami, FL, and New Work Miami, Miami Art Museum, Miami, FL. She is currently part of the project The Nightclub, an art project, that fosters a network of artists and cultural producers in a one night art venue.
