The Coral Gables’ Sister Cities Wine & Spirit Series The Coral Gables Museum presents: Falling under the Spell: The Wines of Granada
A magical evening including a wine tasting, lecture and exhibition tour of Coral Gables’ Sister Cities: Partners in Peace.
As part of its mission to encourage participation in the City of Coral Gables’ award-winning Sister City program, the Coral Gables Museum has organized a series of wine and spirits appreciation lectures based on the regional wines and spirits of Granada, Spain; Pisa, Italy; Aix-en-Provence, rance; Cartagena, Colombia; and La Antigua, Guatemala.
The series will use the focus of wine & spirits to explore the history and civilization of our Sister Cities and to enhance our understanding and appreciation of their civic life.
The first talk in the series will focus on Granada, home of the Alhambra Palace in the heart of AndalucÃa. Like South Florida, AndalucÃa is the hottest part of the country; it is also famous for its Moorish heritage, its flamenco culture and the fortified wines of Jerez.
Local wine instructor Patrick Alexander
The lectures will be presented by Patrick Alexander who, since leaving UM, has been teaching wine appreciation classes throughout Coral Gables. “We will begin with a sherry from nearby Jerez, followed by an Albariňo from Galicia, then a Rioja as a lead-up to a full bodied Toro. After refreshing ourselves with a Cava from Catalonia we will return to Granada to close the evening with a brandy from Andalusia,” explains Alexander.
The evening will be fun, romantic and informative – and of course an interesting and delicious selection of Spanish wines will be liberally sampled.
