The four winners from the preliminary competitions above will head to Whole Foods Market – Boca Raton to compete in the Top Butcher Competition Regional Finals.
Butchery is an art and a craft and to honor it, the Whole Foods Market Florida region has invited their in-house butchers to sharpen their knives and gear up for a regional Top Butcher Competition. Each store in Florida has nominated their best butcher to compete in a regional “cut-off.†The winner of the regional finals will head to Washington D.C. to go up against fellow finalists from across the United States in the Top Butcher Competition National Finals and the winning finalist will compete in New York City at the annual Meatopia event. Foodies and consumers are invited to join Whole Foods Market as they celebrate the fine art of butchery.
Competitors will be given a specific portion of meat, which will be revealed the day of each competition and 15 minutes to properly cut and present the meat. They will be judged on how quickly they can cut the meat, the creativity and precision behind their slices and the ability to maximize profit potential. The winner is automatically entered to compete in the regional finals. All regional competitions begin at 11:00 a.m.; schedule follows:
