One of the seminal figures of rock’s new wave of romanticism, Adam Ant, is set to “Stand and Deliver” his hits alongside The Good, The Mad and The Lovely Posse at The Pavilion at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek on Friday, September 28 at 8 p.m. This will be their only concert in South Florida, and music lovers will get even more variety with the Brothers of Brazil performing an opening act at the show.

Adam Ant (born Stuart Leslie Goddard) is an English musician who gained fame as the lead singer of new wave/post-punk group Adam and the Ants. The band formed in 1977 and released its debut album Dirk Wears White Sox in 1979, then saw their popularity soar with Kings of the Wild Frontier in 1980. Driven by a relentless rhythmic drum beat and charming melodies, it quickly became a hit in the UK, launching three Top 10 singles, including “Ant Music” and “Ant Rap.” On the heels of this success, Prince Charming was released in 1981 and became an instant fan favorite with two #1 singles, “Stand and Deliver” and the title track “Prince Charming.”

Ant was also a star in the United States where he was once voted sexiest man in America by the viewers of MTV and received a “Best New Artist” Grammy nomination in 1982. His first solo album Friend or Foe brought continued success in the U.S., featuring the #1 single “Goody Two Shoes” and “Desperate But Not Serious” as well as delivering three top 20 hits on the Billboard Top 100. In 1983 he appeared on NBC’s Motown 25 Special alongside Michael Jackson, and throughout his career has also appeared in over two dozen films and television episodes.

In 2008, Adam was presented with the Q Music Icon Award placing him alongside fellow recipients Paul McCartney and Bryan Ferry. This rekindled recognition resulted in a series of low key, spontaneous gigs in 2010 which enabled him to select a new band and to perform several sell-out shows in London. Adam Ant and The Good, the Mad and the Lovely Posse played to thousands of people last year, and after the recent successful tour of Australia are bringing the raw, raucous show across the U.S.
