Fashion’s Night Out Miami 2012
Thursday, September 6, 6–11 p.m.
The Beacon Council announces more than 100 retailers throughout Miami-Dade County will participate in Fashion’s Night Out Miami.
“Fashion and retail is part of Miami-Dade County’s fabric, supporting jobs and contributing to our economy year-round,” said Frank R. Nero, President and CEO of The Beacon Council. “The Beacon Council is pleased to be the official business partner of Fashion’s Night Out Miami. We are proud to help support the fashion industry. It is an important component of our creative design industry which is one of the new identified target sectors under One Community One Goal.”
Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) is the fashion industry’s most iconic global fashion party of the year. Local shops and designers will honor the occasion with special guests, fashion presentations, limited-edition products, and other creative promotions.
The biggest celebrations in 2012 will take place in the Miami Design District, Dadeland Mall, Aventura Mall, and Village of Merrick Park. The majority of events are free and open to the public.
The Beacon Council has launched an official Facebook page and Twitter account for FNO Miami where shoppers can find the latest updates and participate in pre-FNO contests and giveaways. For more information visit Facebook at www.Facebook.com/FNOMiami or Twitter at Twitter (@FNOmia).
In addition to the many in-store fashion events taking place on Sept. 6, shoppers also can participate from home by shopping FNO’s list of online retailers that includes many Miami-based brands. A comprehensive list of official FNO participants and events is available at Fashion’s Night Out NYC.
To bring awareness to this year’s event, The Beacon Council and Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce hosted a private meet and greet with Miami designer Rene Ruiz at his Coral Gables boutique on Aug. 22. Ruiz, who has been creating glamorous designs in Miami since the early 1990s, spoke to nearly 100 guests about the retail industry in Miami and his 20-year career as a designer.
Fashion’s Night Out Miami is one of the many county-wide projects The Beacon Council supports as part of its effort to encourage business in the fashion and creative design sector.
In 2011, Greater Miami’s Creative Industries accounted for more than $2.5 billion in wages and 56,000 jobs. Fashion is one of the sectors in the Creative Design Industry featured in The Beacon Council’s One Community One Goal Initiative (OCOG), a Target Industry Strategic Plan for the next five years. This effort is part of The Beacon Council’s focus of promoting and prospering The Creative Design Industries, which includes: architecture, the arts, fashion-lifestyle, graphic design, engineering, and film/television/music production.
Joining The Beacon Council as the official host of Miami’s participation, additional partners include Aventura Mall, Miami Design District, Dadeland Mall, Village of Merrick Park, The Design Factory, Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, Fashion Group International-Miami, and Miami Downtown Development Authority.
