The Miami Dolphins Are Back Again to Offer Free Skin Cancer Screenings as Part of the Melanoma Exposedâ„¢ Campaign
Free Skin Cancer Screenings with the Miami Dolphins and Melanoma Exposed
Earlier this summer, the Miami Dolphins teamed up with Melanoma Exposed™ Screen. Protect. Know. Tell. – a national campaign aimed to raise awareness of melanoma and its risk factors and to encourage people to take a more active role in their skin health. At the event, nearly 200 Dolphins fans were screened for skin cancer. Several potential melanomas were identified and individuals were referred on to see their dermatologists. Join the Dolphins once again for a free skin cancer screening on Sunday, September 16 at the Dolphins vs. Oakland game and help them double the number of skin screenings from June.
This cause hits especially close to home for the Dolphins. In 2010, CFO Mark Brockelman lost his wife to melanoma at the young age of 45. The Dolphins urge fans to come to the Melanoma Exposed tent at the home opener for a free skin cancer screening.
The screening event will take place at Sun Life Stadium from 9am-1pm before the game. The first 100 fans to get screened will receive a free pair of tickets to the upcoming St. Louis game on October 14. Additionally, three fans who attended the screening event in June will kick a field goal from the 50 yard line at halftime for a chance to win a $10,000 prize.
Residents of Florida should be especially vigilant about protecting themselves as the sun’s UV rays are a major risk factor for melanoma. So get screened, protect your family, know your risks and tell everyone how to protect against melanoma.
