Anchor art fair to the city of Miami, Art Miami, the premiere international modern and contemporary art fair, and the inaugural CONTEXT Art Miami, Miami’s newest international emerging and cutting-edge art fair, will kick off Miami Art Week with the season’s most eagerly anticipated cultural event, their highly acclaimed Opening Night VIP Preview on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. which this year will benefit the Miami Art Museum.
World-famous for its stylish gallery-like decor, its outstanding quality and extraordinary variety, Art Miami showcases the best in modern and contemporary art from more than 125 international art galleries. This year, Art Miami will be joined by its new sister art fair, CONTEXT Art Miami, focusing on emerging and cutting-edge contemporary art featuring 65 of the world’s most prestigious galleries in an elegant pavilion directly adjacent to Art Miami, creating a virtual “city of art” for the thousands of collectors, dealers, curators, and artists from around the globe that descend upon Miami.
This Opening Night VIP Preview will serve as the first opportunity for international VIP art collectors, curators, and connoisseurs to acquire the most important contemporary, modern, cutting-edge and emerging art, a day before the Fairs open to the general public. During the very special event, Art Miami LLC will present a generous donation to the Miami Art Museum which is renowned for its dedication to showcasing some of the most influential international art from the 20th and 21st centuries.
The Miami Art Museum will host a specially curated on-site booth in the Art Miami Pavilion for the duration of the Fair, with information about next year’s reopening of MAM as the Pérez Art Museum Miami in a new Herzog & de Meuron-designed facility alongside Biscayne Bay. The Pérez Art Museum Miami will open in downtown Miami’s Museum Park as a world-class museum for the city’s thriving community of artists, designers, collectors and its avid and growing art-engaged public.
The Miami Art Museum will also allow entrance to all Art Miami and CONTEXT VIPs to the MAM ‘Party on the Plaza’, the anticipated and invitation-only event on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, 7-11pm. Art Miami VIP cardholders will also enjoy free museum admission during regular museum hours throughout the Fair.
Art Miami and CONTEXT will also serve as the presenting sponsors of the MAM Contemporaries Art Fair Survival Party on Nov. 16, 2012. MAM Contemporaries members will receive Art Fair Survival Kits with event invitations, VIP passes to Miami Art Week’s can’t-miss fairs, and giveaways.
“We are excited to partner with the Miami Art Museum, this year’s beneficiary for the Art Miami and CONTEXT Opening Night VIP Preview,†says Nicholas Korniloff, Director and Partner of Art Miami and CONTEXT. “Our organization and our participating galleries share an understanding of the need to raise awareness surrounding next year’s re-opening of the Miami Art Museum as the Pérez Art Museum Miami, and we are happy to utilize the Fairs and our exclusive VIP preview as a conduit to create awareness and help raise significant funds for the museum.â€
“We are excited to introduce the new Pérez Art Museum Miami to the international art community at Art Miami†says MAM Director Thom Collins.†Art Miami has always been very supportive of our institution and the local scene, and we are grateful to have such a generous partner.”
