The Roxy Theatre Group (RTG) and the Greater Miami Youth Symphony (GMYS), two Miami-based youth arts programs, will embark on a magical musical theatre extravaganza with an encore performance of Disney’s Aladdin, Dual Language Edition. This epic and well-known tale is brought to the stage by a cast and orchestra of 70 students, ages 12-22, representing over 25 schools and colleges in Miami-Dade County.
This fairytale musical is a captivating story of dreams and adventure, complete with the Genie of the lamp, Abu and a flying carpet. Thanks to The Children’s Trust, GMYS provides a live orchestration for the performance with enchanting songs, such as A Whole New World, One Jump Ahead and Arabian Nights. GMYS is dedicated to training young musicians, ages 5-18. Music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and book by Jim Luigs and Jose Cruz Gonzalez.
“To play a princess once with the amazing cast and crew was the most fun I have had. And to perform an encore is an absolute dream,†said Michelle Negrin, 19, playing Princess Jasmine in Aladdin. Negrin attends Miami-Dade College, Kendall Campus and is majoring in Journalism.
