Anthony’s Light Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit that was founded after the accidental carbon-monoxide poisoning death of Anthony Jason Perez, a Florida International University role model senior and Archon-President of PiKappa Phi. The primary mission of Anthony’s Light is educating and promoting public awareness about the dangers of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning in an effort to save lives.
“We believe that if we can save even one life, we have made a difference. We encourage you to join us as we SHOUT OUT the Silent Killer because one more victim to carbon monoxide poisoning is one victim too many,†said Anthony’s mother and non-profit founder Vilma Perez.
“Carbon monoxide is one of the deadliest of all poisons and kills hundreds of people in the United States each year. This gas is odorless, colorless and tasteless, granting it the nickname of the Silent Killer,†added Perez.
Part of the event includes a Health and Wellness Fair with the presence of numerous causes and organizations. There will be plenty of entertainment for the whole family, including music, food, raffles, give-a-ways, and face painting for the children. The City of Sweetwater has donated off-duty police officers to help control traffic and will have its Breast Cancer Awareness and D’Amor Foundation for Autism police cars onsite.
In addition, because this event focuses on promoting safety and awareness, students in need of community service hours can receive those hours by attending. Those students that are interested in volunteering to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the event may receive additional hours for their extended dedication and support.
If one would like to make a donations please do so at www.AnthonysLight.org or at the event. Bottled water and volunteers are needed.
