The Roxy Theatre Group (RTG) a non-profit youth arts program is proud to present the National premiere of Tarzan® the Stage Musical Based on the Disney Film. Adapted from Edgar Rice Burroughs’ story Tarzan of the Apes, this National debut features a cast and orchestra comprised of 60 students, ages, 8-22 and representing over 30 schools and colleges.
Set in an African jungle, Tarzan® is a tale of conditional love, survival, and adventures, complete with swinging performers, high-flying, bungee-jumping monkeys, and exuberant choreography of aerial acrobatics. The Roxy Theatre Group’s young ensemble and orchestra bring forth a musical explosion, with heartfelt songs such as You’ll Be in My Heart, Two Worlds One Family, and Strangers Like Me. The music and lyrics for Tarzan® are by Grammy Award-Winning singer/musician Phil Collins, and the book is by Tony Award-Winning playwright David Henry Hwang.
"I have been dreaming of playing this role since I saw Tarzan on Broadway in 2006. I am grateful to The Roxy for giving me this opportunity and happy to perform with this awesome cast and orchestra," said Ulises Otero, Jr., 11, playing the role of Young Tarzan. Otero is in the sixth grade at South Miami Middle Community School’s Center for the Arts where he participates in the drama magnet program. He began his studies in dance, voice and acting with The Roxy Theatre Group at the age of three and a half years old.
The Roxy Theatre Group (RTG), a non-profit organization, offers classes in drama, voice, and dance to children ages 3-17, with year-round programs, including two after school care programs and a performing arts summer camp.
