Titled “Everything Is Perfect,†the exhibition will focus on artist Diego Jacobson’s spiritual and philosophical outlook on life based on the principle “do not judgeâ€
Abstract expressionist painter Diego Jacobson will host a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception featuring 70 paintings from his personal collection. Titled “Everything is Perfect,†the exhibition is based on Jacobson’s philosophy on life, which is simply: “If everything is perfect, you can’t judge anything.â€
For Jacobson, every brushstroke is painful, but that didn’t stop the Miami resident from conquering dystonia, a crippling neurological disorder, to become one of the most celebrated Latino artists of his generation. Born in Argentina and raised between Puerto Rico and New York, Jacobson dabbled in drawing as a child, but concluded he just wasn’t any good. When he was eight years old, the earliest signs of generalized dystonia began to creep into his body, forcing him into a wheelchair. At 13, Jacobson underwent cryosurgery, an invasive brain surgery that drastically improved his symptoms.
Jacobson officially began painting when he was in his 30s – after managing a clothing manufacturing business, completing a Master’s degree in Practical Spirituality at the Peace Theological Seminary & College of Philosophy in California, and traveling the world. It wasn’t until Jacobson discovered the artwork of Beatles’ artist Paul McCartney that he felt inspired to put paint to canvas. Today, Jacobson’s paintings have been shown in exhibitions from New York to Italy, and have impressed critics around the world.
