The 2nd annual Golfing for a Breakthrough in memory of Jacqueline Cohen Barnett is set for March 1, 2013 at the Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hallandale. Proceeds from the golf tournament will go to the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center for pancreatic cancer research. Ms. Barnett died at age 50 in 2010 from the disease.
The tournament will have a skills challenge for all players along with a couple of new and unique on course games which set this tournament apart from others in the area.
In addition, the new director of the Sylvester Center — Dr. Stephen Nimer — will be the keynote speaker at the dinner reception following the tournament. Dr. Nimer is one of the foremost authorities on leukemia and stem cell research.
