Water Rites exhibition at the Audrey Love Gallery at BAC
Admission: Free and Open to the Public
This exhibition, the first major group showing of works by GUILD, features works that address the theme of water in diverse ways. The element which is most closely identified with life in South Florida is approached as an archetypal symbol of life, regeneration, and purification, as well as an important element in different religions. GUILD, a group of seven painters who emerged from the New World School of the Arts, embraces the power, inexhaustible originality, and vitality of painting—an art form whose millennial traditions enable it to articulate the aesthetic concerns of contemporary artists. The Walk-Through will be conducted by the exhibition curator, Ricardo Pau-Llosa, and various members of GUILD.
GUILD is also proud to announce the induction of a new member to its ranks. Miami-born painter Christian Duran is also a New World School of the Arts graduate who earned his BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute, in 1998. In 1999, he returned to his hometown of South Florida where he continues to produce and exhibit his work. Duran’s art focuses on themes related to nature, the human anatomy, and religion. Details of Duran’s extensive bio and images of his work can be found at the GUILD website: www.guild-artists.com. Duran will participate in the Walk-Through at BAC on June 29th.
