PAINTER – Hector Figureoa
Born 1984 in New York City and Raised in Miami, H. Fig is emerging into the Art scene with his rediscovered passion for art.
Self taught artist, mostly drawing a sketching for himself or to gift a romantic interest, H. Fig started painting in 2012.
His influences growing up ,and still to this day, are street art and cartoons but has always had an appreciation for all art forms and mediums. His abstract approach to painting is done with bright colors on black backgrounds that allow the subject to matter to speak for itself.
Typically painting about human emotions and his spiritual beliefs, H. Fig paints using acrylics on canvas, wood panels and even mirrors.
Painting with his “soul and no formal training”, H.Fig’s abstract style of painting brings a unique voice to human emotion that stems from his life experience which he feels a wide audience can relate to.
PAINTER – Andrew Sloan
is an American-born, self-taught artist working from Miami, FL. His signature street-influenced, contemporary style with vibrant colors and bold outlines incorporates images and characters of daily life with elements of fashion, music, design, anthropology, architecture, and a variety of underground culture. Working much of the time on wood or canvas, Sloan also utilizes recycled objects, found materials, clothing and anything else that will hold ink and color.
First noticed in 1994 while doing manhole cover rubbings in the streets of Washington DC, Sloan’s exhibition history and gallery representation has grown exponentially in the past decade. First in Miami, through Damien B Contemporary Art Center (2005) and Art Miami (2006), then Paris (2008) and throughout New England from Burlington to Boston, Providence to Provincetown. In 2011, Sloan exhibited for the first time in Austin, Texas and returned to Paris for his second solo exhibition. He has been united in gallery shows and group exhibitions with many of today’s top contemporary artists, including Shepard Fairey, Phil Frost, Doze Green, Dave Kinsey and Jesse Reno.
Sloan has degrees in anthropology and marketing communications and a professional background in music, creative strategy, and print design. As tour manager for the Jamaican band, Israel Vibration in the 1990s, Sloan built an art history foundation from visits to the great museums of Europe, as well as, a large collection of street imagery, photographs and action illustrations.
Sloan is an active arts instructor, tutor, and community arts activist. He is a juried member of the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts Education Roster and a member of VSA Florida with intensive arts instruction experience with developmentally challenged youth and adults. In the last three years, with his wife Ursula, he has led more than a dozen 2D portrait and mural projects with a wide variety of grades and schools through short-term residencies and after-school/in-school programs, including Arts 4 Learning (2012-2013) and the Miami Children’s Museum (2012).
Sloan’s images and hand-drawn type have been used for signage, CD packaging, band backdrops, event flyers, t-shirts, print advertising, skate deck graphics, and, most recently, short-run editions of products incorporating his colorful creations. He has painted numerous large scale murals, both indoors and out, painted live at the Burton US Snowboard Championships, and has just completed a three painting commission for Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.
Sloan is currently studying sculpture at O. Haligon Fine Art in Miami. His first works in 3D will be ready for Art Basel 2013.
