Lisa Boccard (alumna ’80) speaks and presents her exhibit to coincide with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. When 29, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer and has been in ongoing treatment again since 2003 for metastatic breast. A tireless cancer advocate, Ms. Boccard is also the author of “The Cure Package”, a photo exhibit depicting her travels with breast cancer.
She appeared on the Rosie O’Donnell Show and represented the state of Florida in 1993 by presenting President Clinton with 2.6 million signatures requesting the resources needed to end the breast cancer epidemic.
She is a co-founder and a member of the National Breast Cancer Coalition and serves on several committees for the American Cancer Society. In 2003, her brother Vincent and his wife Terry founded the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund that helps provide funding for screening mammograms for women who cannot afford them. The exhibit is free.
