Pérez Art Museum Miami and Miami Beach Cinematheque present “Tea” by Mario Garcia Torres with an introduction by the artist.
“Tea” is a film essay documenting artist Mario Garcia Torres’s journey to One Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan, a hotel opened in 1971 by Italian conceptual artist Alighiero Boetti (b. 1940–d. 1994). The hotel closed due to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979. Garcia Torres considers his relationship to Boetti’s work and life through a subjective blurring of time and geography.
This screening is part of a series of public programs that contextualizes the work of artists who have been commissioned to create new projects that will debut with the opening of Pérez Art Museum Miami in December 2013. This program marks Mario Garcia Torres’ first visit to Miami while working on a new project for PAMM.
Tickets available at box office the evening of the event. (Seating is limited. First come, first seated.) PAMM members may reserve seats in advance (while supplies last.) Email join@pamm.org to join today.
