The organization is excited to welcome Dr. Bober as a special guest speaker. “Bullying remains a complex social phenomenon, which has an impact on virtually all aspects of society, said Psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Bober, Medical Director of Pediatric Psychiatry at Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital. “We must continue to pursue evidence based interventions and public policy changes to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all of our children.â€
The purpose of the reception is to continue fundraising efforts which allows NVEEE to sponsor bullying and harassment prevention workshops throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Education is an essential component of how NVEEE engages families and communities in moving towards social change. In four years, NVEEE has reached over 15,000 students, parents, educators and administrators through its signature “Not on My Watch†School-wide Bullying & Harassment Prevention Program, and was recently featured on an episode of ABC’s “Secret Millionaire” for their work in the community.
Their signature “Not On My Watch†Bullying & Harassment Prevention Program teaches students social skills, how to model specific actions, and demonstrates ways of being and behaving that can empower students to reduce peer-harassment, as well as reduce self-harm. “Not On My Watch†serves as a catalyst to support peer-led intervention to alter school cultures around bullying. Additionally, Workshop Surveys are used to assess the school’s and community’s specific needs, and to capture data unique to each school’s social and ecological frameworks — a practice recommended in leading bullying prevention research.
This work would not be possible without the support of continued sponsors including: Kaufman, Rossin & Co., Printhouse USA, Erin Mia Milchman, Brasileiro Restaurant, Miami Events Photobooth, Sky High Design, Freedom Concierge Services, Tito’s Vodka and Allure Rejuvenation and Anti-Aging Spa.
